Raymond was educated at St Edmund Hall, Oxford. He holds an undergraduate degree in Law with Law Studies in Europe and a postgraduate BCL.
Having trained in London and New York with leading Magic Circle law firm, Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP, Raymond qualified within the firm’s London Tax department in 2011, advising on a number of high-profile corporate transactions, often with a cross-border element. Particular highlights included the sale of Stansted Airport, Xtsrata’s merger with Glencore and the restructuring / refinance of the Mouchel group.
Raymond returned to Northern Ireland in late 2013, initially working in-house with an international law firm before joining the Corporate department of a market-leading Belfast practice. During his time in Belfast, Raymond has gained extensive experience on a wide range of corporate matters, including mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, private equity / venture capital funding, corporate restructurings, shareholder matters (and disputes), company secretarial and corporate governance issues.
Having practised as a tax lawyer, Raymond brings a broad perspective to his corporate work – and is, as a result, very diligent in ensuring that tax analysis is adequately reflected in the transaction documents.
Raymond is qualified to practise in Northern Ireland and England & Wales, and remains active in both jurisdictions.
